Children are the future of the world and need to be nurtured and educated in the best conditions. Thus, parenting is one of the most challenging and admirable responsibilities that people can experience. Parenting plays important roles in the development of children’s characteristics. Some people nurture children depending on their own ways. Others get advice from friends or books. Parenting can be divided into three groups: authoritative, permissive, and democratic parenting. The first group is authoritative parenting. Parents in this group always use their rules and directions to control their children in their own ways. These parents set strict rules with their children, and they think that is the best way to conduct their children.†¦show more content†¦However, authoritative parenting style has no effect with children when children grow up. Children can be scolded or punished when they do in the wrong ways. Therefore, authoritative parenting style sometimes is not a good way to nurture children. The second group is called permissive parenting. Permissive parents give up most control and rules to their children. In contrast of authoritative parents, they permit their children to do anything children like. These parents want to bring their children freedom. They want their children to develop in the free ways. They do not set any rules and routines in their children’s lives. While authoritative parents do not provide children with choices, permissive parents give children as many choices as possible, even when the children are not able to make good choices. These parents accept with all their children’s behavior, good or bad, and permit their children develop in the ways their children like. Permissive parents want to bring their children warmness and love, and they never scold or punish their children. However, like authoritative parenting, permissive parenting sometimes is not good for children. Children do things in the wrong ways and this can bring them dange r; however, there is no advice from parents to put them in the right ways. The play of King Lear is a tragedy like many of Shakespeare’s plays, and many of them deal with the tragic hero that end up meeting their demise thanks to their tragic flaw. The tragic hero of this play is King Lear, and he is a man that is a ruler of the kingdom of Britain in the 8th century B.C. He is a very old man surrounded by grave responsibilities, which are taking care of the land and taking care of the citizens of the kingdom. Lear the tragic hero must feel suffering and contrast those good times to the suffering, except his suffering leads to chaos and ultimately his death. The definition of a tragedy from our class notes is, â€Å"an honorable protagonist with a tragic flaw, which is also known as a fatal flaw. This eventually leads†¦show more content†¦All of these bad decisions that Lear made were based on his arrogance of showing his pride without thinking about the consequences. The reversal of fortune that occurs with Lear starts with the arrogance th at Lear has always shown throughout the entire play. King Lear’s reversal of good fortune to bad fortune first occurred when the daughters decided not to take their father in to provide food and put a roof over his head. The first daughter to deny their father was Goneril and she tried to tear her father down by saying, â€Å"As you are old and reverend, should be wise. / Here do you keep a hundred knights and squires, / men so disordered, so deboshed, and bold, / That this our court, infected with their manners, / shows like a riotous inn. Epicurism and lust / Makes it more like a tavern or a brothel / Than a graced palace† (I, IV, 246-252). Lear’s reversal gets even worse when he has to endure the elements of the dreadful storm, when he has nowhere to go and he begins to become insane when he says, â€Å"Rumble thy bellyful. Spit, fire. I didn’t respond back then because I was in the Seminary and was trying to worship god and put all that happened on the island behind me. I’m writing you this letter now because I am about to become a priest and I feel that I need to clear things up as a last act before I start my new life. This way I can start out with a clean slate. In your letter you blamed me for what happened on that night of the big feast, what happened to Simon I mean, and I must tell you that it was not my fault. As we started getting caught up in the chant I saw a shadowy figure crawling out of the forest. I thought it was the beast, I really did, everyone else thought so too. Everyone, even you. I know we all saw him at the same time because I was not the only one who shouted out that he was the beast, you thought he was too, you and Piggy and Sam and Eric and everyone else, we all thought he was the beast. It wasn’t me who said â€Å"let’s kill him†, it wasn’t only my idea, it was a mutual idea that everyone took part in. We were all to blame, not just me. And how was I supposed to know that the â€Å"real beast† was only a dead parachutist? For all any of us knew, the beast could have been a terrible vicious wild animal that would have devoured us all. When I saw Simon crawling out of the forest I thought he was the beast and I took action, as did everyone else, after all we were just a pack of young boys living alone on a desert island with nothing but fruit and half-raw pig o eat. We were all caught up in the delirium of that stupid dance and no one knew what they were doing, it was a stupid and terrible mistake. However, I think that you are just as much to blame for what happened that night as I am or any one else is, you took part in that dance just like the rest of us. It wasn’t murder because it was not intentional, I had good intentions as did the rest of the boys I’m sure. Is it fair to still blame only me? I behaved in ways that I wish I had not, but in my defense I was not myself on the island. Something came over me, I was not used to living without meat, without anything. What did I know anyway? I was only thirteen and people do stupid things. I now see that what happened on that island was insanity. It was madness, all of it. The conch, the assemblies, the tribes the killing, and especially Piggy’s death. I know at the time I didn’t show any remorse, but I have truly come to regret it. I am sorry that you lost your friend and that I was not kinder to him while he was alive. But, how can you blame me for his death when I didn’t even throw the boulder that killed him?. We were all caught up that foolish fight, it was as if he was killed in battle, no one should be assigned the blame for that. We were stuck on that island for far too long and we were all beginning to go mad, it’s a wonder we even survived long enough to be rescued. I know I did some stupid things, but so did you, the point is that it was not all my fault.
